About CIBR
Advances in medicine require a level of technological research
that is a step above efforts of the past. It's time to make a commitment.
CIBR is a permanent partnership of academic research departments, scientific societies, patient
advocacy organizations, and imaging equipment manufacturers leading the education and advocacy
efforts for imaging research.
Mission
To raise the profile of imaging through education and advocacy, link the benefits of imaging
to the improvement of patient care, highlight the effect federal funding has on each stakeholder within
the imaging community, and show the potential cost savings of advanced imaging technologies.
In keeping with our goal to raise the profile of imaging through education and advocacy, CIBR
- sponsors briefings on Capitol Hill that demonstrate the value of the investment in imaging research,
both in terms of clinical progress and direct effect on the daily lives of individuals
- facilitates visits to the NIH campus, establishing a direct connection between NIH researchers, those
who influence funding decisions, and those who benefit from the research
- actively supports legislative efforts that support increased funding for NIH
- publishes a quarterly newsletter to stimulate awareness and sharing of information among imaging
stakeholders
The
Academy of Radiology Research created
The Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research (CIBR) in 2006 so that the voice in favor
of imaging research would be both unified and diverse.
The Academy of Radiology Research is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a legislative and financial environment that favors imaging research, to ensure that breakthroughs in radiology, medical imaging, and
bioengineering research are fully recognized and appreciated. It is our goal that Congress will become firmly committed to providing adequate
annual funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in order to continue achieveing ever greater advancements in prevention, prediction,
diagnosis and therapy.
The Academy and CIBR have created new partnerships with diverse constituencies beyond the clinical and academic domains to create greater
awareness and understanding of advances in medical imaging and bioengineering. In turn, this new awareness establishes a considerably
more prominent role for the Academy in the development of public policy and legislation that will sustain and nurture our vision.
