Advances in medicine today require a level of technological research that is a step above efforts of the past. It's time to make a commitment.
The future of medicine lies in imaging and bioengineering. Molecular imaging, new interventional techniques, biomaterials, and other technology-based scientific breakthroughs are keys to conquering a wide range of diseases and conditions. Technology will also lead the way to improved access to health care around the world.

CIBR Will Lead the Way
The Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research (CIBR) has been created to foster advances in imaging and bioengineering. CIBR members recognize the enormous potential to further revolutionize patient care and biomedical research through the development of new technologies by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, other NIH institutes, and throughout the federal research community. CIBR members will advocate for research that can bring the technology of tomorrow to the health care needs of today.

 |
|
Who Is CIBR?
The Coalition is made up of key stakeholders in the development and use of medical technology:
- Radiology and imaging science organizations
- Bioengineering organizations
- Imaging equipment manufacturers
- Medical device manufacturers
- Pharmaceutical companies
- Patient groups that fight a variety of diseases and condition
|
|
By combining the knowledge and strengths of these organizations, CIBR will highlight the critical need for imaging and bioengineering research funds. CIBR will advocate building the NIBIB budget so that the Institute can achieve its expansive mission as the primary home for technology development at the NIH.
|
CIBR Will
- Advocate for imaging and bioengineering research funds at NIH and in other federal agencies
- Provide a voice for members to communicate with NIH scientists, policy makers, and researchers
- Keep members informed on the latest developments, programs, and information related to imaging and bioengineering at the NIH and other federal agencies
- Work to focus public attention on the importance of developing new imaging and bioengineering technologies
Other research fields have benefited from the combined efforts of academic, industry, and patient groups. CIBR initiatives will mirror the work of these types of organizations on an even larger scale. Never has such a coalition been needed more. With federal budgets under unprecedented stress, committed advocacy is more important than ever.
